🎓 GPA Calculator
Add your courses, pick a letter grade and credits for each, and watch your cumulative GPA update instantly.
GPA is calculated on a standard 4.0 scale. Rows with no credits or no grade selected are ignored.
How the GPA Calculator Works
Your Grade Point Average is a weighted average of your grades, weighted by the number of credit hours each course is worth.
Formula
Grade Point Scale
- A+ = 4.0, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7
- B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7
- C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7
- D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, F = 0.0
Worked Example
Mathematics (A, 4 credits), Computer Science (B+, 3 credits), and Physics Lab (A-, 1 credit): total points = (4 × 4.0) + (3 × 3.3) + (1 × 3.7) = 16.0 + 9.9 + 3.7 = 29.6. Total credits = 4 + 3 + 1 = 8. GPA = 29.6 / 8 = 3.70.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is GPA calculated?
Each course's grade point value is multiplied by its credit hours, these products are summed, and the total is divided by the sum of all credit hours.
What if my school uses a different grading scale?
This calculator uses the standard US 4.0 scale. If your institution uses a different scale (such as a 4.3 or percentage scale), you may need to convert your grades first.
Can I calculate a cumulative GPA across semesters?
Yes — add every course from all semesters you want included, along with their credit hours and grades, and the calculator will compute your overall cumulative GPA.
Is my course and grade data saved anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser — nothing you type is sent to or stored on our servers.
