Your Estimated Take-Home Pay
Simplified federal estimate using 2026 IRS tax brackets and standard deduction, plus FICA (Social Security & Medicare) at current statutory rates, plus a flat/top-marginal state income tax rate by state. Excludes local/city taxes, pre-tax deductions (401(k), health insurance), tax credits, and itemized deductions. Consult a payroll professional for exact withholding.
How the Paycheck Calculator Works
This calculator estimates your take-home pay by subtracting three categories of tax from your gross salary: federal income tax (using the progressive 2026 IRS brackets and standard deduction for your filing status), FICA payroll tax (Social Security at 6.2% up to the annual wage base, plus Medicare at 1.45%, with an additional 0.9% Medicare surtax above $200,000), and state income tax, applied as a simplified flat or top-marginal rate for the state you select.
Formula
Federal Tax = ฮฃ (income in each 2026 bracket ร that bracket's rate)
Social Security Tax = min(Gross Salary, $184,500) ร 6.2%
Medicare Tax = Gross Salary ร 1.45% + max(0, Gross Salary โ $200,000) ร 0.9%
State Tax = Gross Salary ร State Rate
Take-Home Pay = Gross Salary โ Federal Tax โ Social Security โ Medicare โ State Tax
What's Included
- Federal Income Tax โ 2026 IRS brackets (Rev. Proc. 2025-32) and standard deduction by filing status
